James Terry Collective
A limitless passion for the performing arts
James Terry Collective is dedicated to producing theatre with an emphasis on supporting the growth of artists, as well as building a community of professionals who can exchange knowledge and skills, leading to a more connected and vibrant arts community in Melbourne.
His critically acclaimed production of Kinky Boots received the Green Room Award for ‘Independent Production of the Year’ (2023), on top best Direction (Martin Croft), and Ensemble (The Angels). Further awards for Next To Normal (2022) include Best Leading Actor (Queenie van de Zandt) and Best Original Choreography (Freya List). Previous productions include Legally Blonde the Musical (2019), and RENT (2018)
In addition to his events, James is an established video producer now 12 years in the industry. His network of clients including Disney Theatrics, TEG Dainty Groups. Global Creatures, The Production Company, Gordon Frost Organisation, Michael Cassel Group, Life Like Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, Victorian Opera, Arts Centre Melbourne, and more.
James is the Australian resident videographer for Disney Theatrics, and previously Moulin Rouge the Musical, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
During his time as the Head of Digital Media for TheatrePeople.com.au, the website and social accounts reached #1 for theatre video content in Australia with multimillion views.
James also founded the company Take the Mic Australia that has embraced thousands of performers across the east coast in singing competition and music events. Established to embrace and encourage rising young talent, the company is in its seventh year and recently produced Disney’s The Lion King Junior, an Australian community theatre premiere.
James has worked extensively as a musical theatre performer and director, developing a strong passion and diverse range of skills in multiple stagecrafts. This enables James to transfer the knowledge to capture and develop exceptional theatre content through various media. With a limitless passion for the performing arts, James strives to showcase and celebrate the extensive talent that Australia continues to offer.
