James Terry Collective

A limitless passion for the performing arts

James Terry Collective is a leading Melbourne independent production company, following their critically acclaimed production of Kinky Boots which received the Green Room Award for ‘Independent Production of the Year’ (2023), including Best Direction (Martin Croft), and Best Ensemble.

Dedicated to producing commercial-level theatre, James Terry Collective supports the growth of emerging artists, and building a community of professionals to foster to a more connected and vibrant arts community in Melbourne.

Previous productions include Next To Normal (2022) with Green Room Awards for Best Leading Actor (Queenie van de Zandt) and Best Original Choreography’ (Freya List), following Legally Blonde the Musical (2019), and RENT (2018). JTC just concluded a new production of the Tony-Award winning revival of The Boys in the Band written by Mart Crowley, marking 50 years since its original staging in Australia.


In addition to his productions, James is an established video producer now 12 years in the industry leading as the Australian resident videographer for Disney Theatrical Group. His network of clients also include TEG Dainty Group, Global Creatures, The Production Company, John Frost for Crossroads Live, Michael Cassel Group, Life Like Company, Melba Opera Trust, Melbourne Theatre Company, Victorian Opera, Arts Centre Melbourne, and more.

 

During his time as the Head of Digital Media for TheatrePeople.com.au, the website and social accounts reached #1 for theatre video content in Australia with multimillion views.
 

James also founded the company Take the Mic Australia that has embraced thousands of performers across the east coast in singing competition and music events. Established to embrace and encourage rising young talent, the company is in its 12th year and most notably produced Disney’s The Lion King Junior, an Australian community theatre premiere.
